RC Hobby Inquiry

I became interested in radio controlled hobbies after my dad brought me to a fair ten years ago, I was just fourteen back then. I asked my father to buy me any form of RC gadget but sadly we aren't financially stable that time as those kinds of toys can be quite expensive. I just promised myself that someday I will buy my own and relieved that childhood dream.

Guess what? That time has come. I was only hoping to have a crash course on what RC brand should I consider to purchase and what type?
